A Word from the Pastor

 Known, Claimed & Called by God

Now the word of the Lord came to me saying,
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,

before you were born I consecrated you;

I appointed you…”

 Jeremiah 1:4-5

Psychologists affirm that for every one, a good sense of self is important to the success of the enterprise called “life”. The prophet Jeremiah had a job to do in ancient Israel. Before Jeremiah became aware of his vocation in life, he also got a deep sense of self. He was known, claimed and called by the almighty God. No wonder the prophet was able to withstand the sufferings and deprivations that came with his job. He was successful in life, for he knew who he was and whose he was.

 We live in the twenty- first century, post- modern world. God has a purpose for each of our lives. To quote the song writer: There is a work for Jesus none but you can do.

 In the season of Epiphany we remember our baptism. In effect, we remember that we are known, claimed and called by God; we belong to God.  The question is: are we sure, and do we allow this empowering self-identity to affect the enterprise called “life”? To be known, claimed, called by God means to be equipped “to accomplish abundantly far more than we can ask or imagine” (Ephesians 3:20). In the moments and movements of life, we are not alone – we belong to God! Even in the cold winter months, God is with us.

I wish you and yours God’s blessings.

 Pastor Dorothy

Snippet From Disciple Bible Study:

God’s presence is promised to us when we say ‘yes’ to God in Christ Jesus. The evidence of God’s presence in our lives depends on our receptivity, obedience and cultivation of that presence.

Invest Time In
Important Things

 As we live from day to day, we are investing our time, energy and talents in various things. Are they really important? As Christian stewards, do we willingly volunteer some of
our time, resources and talents to the work
of our church? Whatever we are doing had better be important. It costs us a day of our lives.
